Swelect launched New Solar Module

Coimbatore based Solar Power Products Manufacturer Swelect Energy Systems Ltd., announced on Friday the launch of its new solar module manufacturing facility built on 1.3 lakh sq.ft area in Kuppepalayam village, Annur block in Coimbatore district with a total investment of Rs. 125 crore.

Mirunalini Chellappan, Director, Swelect Energy Systems conveyed that this plant has manufacturing capacity of up to 700 MW, and it has the capacity to manufacture 2,700 modules per day.

Currently the company manufactures 385 Watt Peak Panel, and it can go up to 595 watt peak panel. By the end of 2023, it has both the plans and capacity to produce 650-700 watt peak panel.

Swelect’s Managing Director Chellapan said that they are thinking about stepping into solar cell-manufacturing. Swelect has aspirations to produce the core raw materials here itself.

According to its MD, the company has made Mega Watt scale installation in several Indian Oil Corporation Limited refinery facilities. It has sold power to Tamil Nadu Government, Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), which is a Central Government body, and to private industries too.

It has sold close to 40 MW to dairy industries and more than 35 MW to airports including Chennai Airport.

While Swelect operates predominately in India, it has offices in Singapore and US, and it is soon planning to expand to markets in Australia and the Middle-East where it sees a possible export opportunity.

Chellapan conveyed that the company today is recognized as ‘Tier-1 Solar PV Module Manufacturer’ by Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF), the highly recognized global industry standard in classifying solar Photo Voltaic module manufacturers.
