The Department of Catering Science and Hotel Management of Sankara College of science and commerce conducted a Biryani Fest event named ‘Rusikka Vaanga’, as a part of Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) on Wednesday at the Sankara campus. Every month, the EDC Cell conducts different events to develop the entrepreneurship skills of the students.
Students prepared varieties of Indian Biryanis like Chettinadu Veg Biryani, Nilgiris Veg Biryani, Sweet corn Biryani, Mushroom Biryani, Egg Biryani, Dindigul Mutton Biryani, Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani, Ambur Chicken Biryani, Chettinadu Chicken Biryani, Thalasherry Chicken Biryani, Smoked Chicken Biryani and Malabar Fish Biryani.
This event proved to be a fruitful one as hands-on experience was gained by students in the nuances of Biryani making and also in promoting and marketing the products. More than 1000 students from various departments visited the stall. One of the students commented that the Ambur Chicken Biryani, Dindigul Mutton Biryani was tastier and nominal in their cost. The encouragement and interest shown by the catering students were clear proof of the motivation driven behind by the Head of the Department, the Chef.
