KPR College created awareness on waste segregation at Rasipalayam

The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) team of KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology conducted a programme of donation and erection of solar lights; solid waste management-distribution of dust bins for segregation of biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes; and renovation of the government school at Rasipalayam village on Tuesday.

Akila, principal of the KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, educated the audience on the importance of waste segregation for societal well-being. The chief guest, Somasundram, UBA’s regional coordinator, TNAU, Coimbatore, gave a brief idea of the various avenues to serve the villages.

He gave a disquisition of the different types of work done by the institute and also motivated the faculty and student volunteers to work and develop the villages adopted by KPRIET. Solar lamps were distributed and erected in and around Rasipalayam village. The NSS volunteers have renovated their Govt. primary and nursery school. The school students and the local villagers were given the awareness of the waste materials which can be biodegradable and non-biodegradable. So that the hazardous effects of plastics on soil and our environment can be reduced.
