Kashmir Files makes its way to the Oscar nomination

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri took to Twitter to announce the milestone achievement of Kashmir Files’ nomination for the Oscars.

In this regard, he cited the critics of this film and that they have been silenced through this great validation for the movie as such.

Addressing an interview with the Times Now he said, “It’s a big validation and a big recognition, it means you are one of the finest films of last year. It’s a good news. All my actors Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Palak Joshi and Darshan Kumar have been shortlisted in the best actor category.”

Kashmir Files starring Actor Anupam Kher and other significant actors talks about the genocide of the Kashmiri Pandits and the negligence of their justice for the past 32 years.

Earlier, the film peaked controversy during the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2022, wherein the jury panel regarded the movie with the terms like ‘vulgar propaganda’ and ‘disturbing’. The highlight was when the jury head Nadav Lapid mentioned, “All of us were disturbed and shocked by the 15th film, The Kashmir Files. That felt like a propaganda, vulgar movie, inappropriate for an artistic competitive section of such a prestigious film festival. I feel comfortable openly sharing these feelings here with you at this stage. In the spirit of this festival, can surely also accept a critical discussion, which is essential for art and life.”

Reacting to this previous comment from Lupid, Vivek Agnihotri said that it is a slap to those who criticized the movie and to people like Lupid.

Meanwhile, this is one of the five Indian Films to make it through the Oscar nomination. The other nominations include Kantara, RRR, Gangubai Kathiawadi and Chhello Show (Last Film Show).
