Velan & Kaalnadai Thiruvizha 2023

Food is very essential for survival; agriculture is the only way for cultivating food and food products. As a tribute to the farmers of our Nation and in the view of Pongal Celebration Thiru Sengoda Gounder Educational Trust and Sri Shakthi Institute Of Engineering and Technology located at L & T Bypass road, Coimbatore inaugurated the fifth Annual Agricultural Festival “Velan Thiruvizha-23”.

The main objective of this festival is to encourage natural agriculture and to develop an awareness of natural fisheries and the latest technologies. K. Madeshwaran, Chairman of Royal Care Hospital, inaugurated the festival. Dr.S.Thangavelu, Chairman of the institution, Dheepan Thangavelu, Secretary and Sheelan Thangavelu, Joint Secretary were present at the inauguration.

The main feature of this festival is celebrating the art of agriculture. New tools and instrument in the field of science and technology for the improvement of agriculture and its related fields was exhibited in the agricultural exhibition that took place on the college campus. Various banks visited this event to provide information on various subsidies to the farmers and the availability of agricultural loans at low-interest rates.

Cows and bulls were divided into four categories according to age and the competitions were conducted separately for each category. In addition, separate competitions for different types of bulls, Mayilakaalai, Sevalaikaalai, and Karikaalai took place. On valedictory, the certificates and prizes will be distributed to the deserving ones.

The show of native ram fight, rooster fight such as Kilimuku visirivaal etc and Native dog breeds including Kombai, Rajapalayam, Sippyapparai and Kanni were displayed. More than 500 cattle and livestock were showcased and the best was selected for prizes.

Various folk dances and concerts were conducted at the college premises, including Oyilaatam, Mayilaatam, and Poikalkuthiraiaatam. Hundreds of rural artists from areas like Thanjavur participated in the cultural fest.
