On Thursday morning, a man committed suicide by vaulting into a moving train near Somanur. Meanwhile, the boy’s body got stuck and was tugged by the train’s engine.

An Intercity Express train from Ernakulam to Bangalore arrived near Somanur railway station on its usual schedule. When the intercity express reached Vanchipalayam, a young man in his 30s suddenly stood in the middle of the rail track with his hand raised.

Shocked by the man’s interference, the loco pilot hollered to clear the track. But the man did not stay away and jumped in front of the train. The train’s engine dragged the boy’s body for about 1 kilometre, after which the train halted. The loco pilot filed a complaint at the Podanur Police Station.

Following the complaint, Police Sub-Inspector Kavita and team police rushed to the crime spot and initiated a search to retrieve the body. Subsequently, the police recovered the man’s body and sent it to the government hospital for post-mortem procedures.

The police are investigating the whereabouts of the deceased and the grounds for his suicide. There was chaos among the passengers of the intercity express as the incident delayed its scheduled departure.
