India prepares for the tide of new Covid variant

With the surge of Covid-19 in the neighbouring country China and a few other countries, India is preparing to avert a massive pandemic again. Under PM Modi’s governance, major covid hospitals across India are taking up a mock drill to ensure covid preparedness and monitor the number of incoming cases.

Health Ministers of all states are to take part in the mock drill. The drill focuses on the parameters that include the availability of health facilities in all districts, the capacity of isolation beds, oxygen-supported beds, ICU (intensive care unit) beds and ventilator-supported beds.

In this regard, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya visited the Safdarjung Hospital to review Covid Mock drill. Commenting on the visit he said, “To assure there isn’t a Covid surge in the country, PM Modi has asked us to be careful. The government is also preparing for the covid cases. Today mock drills are conducted across covid hospitals in the country to guarantee proper treatment.”

Mock drills are in progress at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital in Guwahati, Assam, (MCH) Hospital, Gandhi Nagar in Jammu and Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian visited the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital in Chennai to review Covid Mock drill. He mandated the public wear masks in crowded places to prioritise public health in keeping the pandemic away by following the covid protocols.

According to reports, Karnataka health officials mandated masks in schools, pubs, restaurants and other public places. Following this, the government has made Mask-wearing mandatory for all visitors and passengers at Kalaburagi Airport.
