HICAS embraces Christmas with Cake mixing ceremony

The cake-mixing ritual is often celebrated on a grand scale to ring in the joy of the Christmas season. This age-old Christmas tradition also marks the arrival of the harvest season. The dry fruits, nuts, grains and spices that are required to make the traditional plum cake are mixed and soaked in high-quality rum, wine or other alcoholic beverages.

The department of Catering and Hotel Management of Hindusthan College of Arts and Science organized a cake-mixing ceremony. It included the mixing of all dry fruits around 35kg such as Cherry, Dates, Walnuts, Cashew Nuts, Pista, Almond, Raisins, Tutty & Fruity, Cardamom, Rum, Brandy & Wine. The cake mixture is soaked in liquor and spices for 45 days. Once the mixture has matured for almost 45 days the same will be used to prepare a Rich Royal Plum Cake.

Guests Rameshchandrakumar, General Manager, Grand Regent Coimbatore, Dr. K.Priya, Executive Secretary, Hindusthan Intuitions, Dr.A.Ponnusamy Principal, Dr. P. Premkanna, Head of the Department and Sebastian, Department Coordinator along with Faculty and 180 Catering students were part of the ceremony.
