“Quality & value education, an inspiration to many” -Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, Governor of Telangana and Lt. Governor of Puducherry

The Suguna College of Engineering organized its 6th Convocation ceremony on Monday. Chief Guest Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, Governor of Telangana and Lt. Governor of Puducherry, presided over the inaugural in the presence of Rajamani Ramaswamy, Trustee, V.Lakshminarayanasamy, Chairman Suguna group, L. Suguna, Director, Anish Lakshminarayanasamy, MD, Dr. Srikanth Kannan, Secretary Suguna Charitable Trust & Director-Academics, Suguna Institutions and Dr. R. Maguteeswaran, Principal, SCE.

The institution was established in the year 2012 and has currently completed ten years of successful journey. It certainly adds glory to its brand. Subsequently, as of 2021 survey reports, the institution has raked 46th place among the top 100 engineering colleges in India.

Dr. Srikanth Kannan, L. Suguna and V. Lakshminarayanasamy felicitated the guest with a bouquet, shawl and memento, respectively.

Accompanied by the dignitaries, Chief Guest Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan conferred the graduation certificates to 225 students, including 15 toppers.

Welcoming the gathering and presenting the presidential address, V.Lakshminarayanasamy, Chairman, Suguna Group, glorified the deeds and vision of the late G Ramaswamy Naidu, Founder of Suguna Group of Industries and Institutions. He expressed his delight in this graduation being notable as it falls in the Centenary year of the Suguna group.

Recalling the founder’s excellence and establishment of Sugunan groups, he highlighted the milestone journey of the Suguna Pumps that has turned into a piece of inevitable industrial equipment, not just in the city but across nations. He added that it meets the needs of domestic, agricultural and vast industrial demand catering to high-quality service. The pump industry carries the legacy of the founder that supports a wide range of farmers, significantly in the rural sectors.

In addition, he specified the patriotic nature of the late founder and his virtues in returning welfare to society. Stipulating thought of “Ask not what the country has done for you, ask what you have done for your country”, was much reflected in his actions, becoming the recipient of the Rashtriya Samman award for five consecutive years.

“Just as every student is unique & special in Suguna, so is every parent”, he added, expressing his esteem towards every parent in making their child’s dream come true. He appreciated the students’ efforts in adapting to digital learning methods and accomplishing this destiny amidst the pandemic.

Moving further to the guest address, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, Governor of Telangana and Lt. Governor of Puducherry, applauded the high vision of the late founder and expressed her delight in being part of the institution’s 10th-year celebration that coincides with the centenary ceremony.

Showing high adulation towards the institution, she designated the students’ achievements in cracking the competitive exams, manifesting the quality of education. As a remark of carrying the legacy ahead and keeping the vision alive, these add laurels to the social perception of the late founder.

“The persistence of the family in catering quality and value education to the students, individual attention, irrespective of the schedule, certainly is a matter of inspiration to many”, she added.

Meanwhile, she exalted the vision of Digital India proposed by Prime Minister Modi, pivoting the growth of technology and empowering citizens. Addressing the engineering graduates, she stated that PM Modi envisioned the future of India in the hands of engineers and technologists. With the ‘TECHADE’ concept, the central government has facilitated employment opportunities across the country.
