Coimbatore Rotary enters International Cricket Festival

A Team of 11 Members from various Rotary Clubs of Coimbatore representing Rotary District 3201 – Coimbatore are participating in the Rotary Mini World Festival Cricket Tournament to be held in Bangladesh. Rotary Cricket Tournament is an annual event and this time it is being held at Dhaka, Capital of Bangladesh.

Team Members for the current year include Rtn.Chandresh (Chairman of IFCR Cbe), Rtn.Rajeel (Captain), Rtn.Maniraj, Rtn.Jayaraj, Rtn.Anand, Rtn.MM Raja, Rtn.Venkatesh, Rtn.Arivumani, Rtn.Syed, Rtn.Sumit and Rtn.Yuvraj.

This is the 3rd time a cricket Team from Rotary Coimbatore is participating in an International Cricket Festival. Reportedly, the previous year tournament was held in Australia.

The intent to organise such events is to motivate and educate Rotarians about the needs of the hour and diverse ways to serve the society.

A total of 12 Teams from various countries including Sri Lanka and Nepal will be participating in the tournament. The Cricket team will be participating in the tournament from 15th to 17th November 2022.

Commenting on the participation, Rtn. Sumit Prasad, Founder-International Fellowship of Cricket Loving Rotarians (IFCR)-Coimbatore said, “It is our pleasure to be a part of this International Tournament, wherein a few members are first-timers and a few of us are appearing for third time. We have a good team and hope to win the trophy this year.”

The IFCR-Coimbatore was founded in the year 2014, since then they have been part of various national and international tournaments. In this reference, the IFCR-Coimbatore were the winners of the Wagon Wheel Tournament for three consecutive year and were the runners-up for the same in the year 2021, held in Kochi.
