KMCH organized session on CPR awareness

The Department of Biomedical Engineering in association with the Healthcare club & Uyir club organized a session on the Basic Life Support Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation awareness programme an initiative by KMCH, in association with India Medtronic Private Ltd & ALERT (NGO).

Dr. Thavamani D Palanisamy, Madam Secretary, NGP iTECH, presided over the event and addressed the gathering about Cardio Pulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Dr. M.G. Sumithra, Prof & HoD / BME and Dr. S.U. Prabha, Principal were part of the event.

Guest Dr.Thomas Alexander, Head – Department of Cardiology, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, KMCH, explained the cardiac arrest scenario and that the blood cannot pump to the rest of the body. CPR uses chest compressions to mimic how the heart pumps. These compressions help keep blood flowing throughout the body.

Karthik Venkatesan- ALERT (NGO) and Pradeep, India Medtronic Private Ltd gave the Hands-on Training for CPR can help gain precious time for a person experiencing a cardiac event but knowing First Aid, CPR and how to use an AED will enable you to provide life-saving care in a range of emergencies. Around 630 Student Volunteers and Faculty Members got trained in the First Aid CPR training programme.
