In observance of the national handloom day, the Kovai Makkal Sevai Maiyam in association with Dream Zone organized the Handloom fashion Show. In this regard, students of Dr. N.G.P. Institute of Technology participated in the 5th season of the Handloom fashion Show.
Students of various departments, dressed in traditional attire especially handloom clothing walked along the ramp to exhibit their best outfits. The judging panel included Jayalakshmi M, Kalapatti mandal vice president, Makkal Sevai Maiyam and Dream Zone coordinators Hari Priya and Harini Jayalakshmi. Dr Akshaya, associate professor, Dr. N.G.P. IT, the event cordinator rendered her support throughout the event.
This initiative aimed to highlight on the significance of handloom and to promote them among the Indian minds.
Handloom an eco-friendly product, ensures safe diversity and is a large source of employment for many weavers across the country. Alongside this helps in taking forth the ideology of the ‘Make in India’ concept.
During the event, the shortlisted participants were questioned on the role of handloom in common and the best replies were taken further to the final shortlist. Mirudhubashini, 2nd year MBA and Madhan, 2nd year MBA were the finalists. There will be representing Dr. N.G.P. Institute of Technology in the Final level to be held on 2nd September 2022, at Sri Krishna College Auditorium. The final show will consist of student participants from various colleges from Coimbatore.
