Dr.N.G.P. Institute of Technology in Association with The Institution of Engineer (India), Coimbatore local centre, organized a one-day seminar on “High-Performance Concrete for Sustainable Development” on Friday. P.Muthupriya, HOD, Civil Engineering in her welcome address elaborated on the purpose of the seminar.
S.U. Prabha, Principal, M. Veerapathran, Assistant Professor (SG), chief guest T. Palanisamy, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Karnataka, (NITK), Surathkal. J. Krishnamoorthi, Honorary Secretary, IE(I), Coimbatore Local Centre were part of the event.
During the first session of the seminar, T. Palanisamy, Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the National Institute of Technology of Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, presented on ‘Sustainable Aggregates for High-Performance Concrete’. Further explained how high-performance concrete is made using recycled aggregates made from various materials. Additionally, he discussed high-performance concrete’s most modern technologies.
Followed by the second session by A. Sudhahar, Chief Consultant, M/s. Dimensions, Coimbatore, on high-performance low carbon footprint concrete. He discussed the behaviour of cutting-edge concrete for low-carbon construction with a minimal carbon footprint. Technical paper presentations were held following the post-lunch break.
