Recently, Rotary Club Kovaipudur organized the distribution of nutritional supplements to expectant mothers. The initiative was one of the important focuses of Rotary International to deal with “Maternal and Child Health”.
Maternal mortality is considered a key health indicator and the direct causes of maternal deaths are well known and largely preventable and treatable. Experts advise on the consumption of nutritional supplements that can bridge the gap between malnutrition and good health.
The Rotary Club of Kovaipudur on their visit to Sundakkamuthur Government hospital distributed dates, and protein supplements to 50 expecting mothers, who arrived for their regular check-ups.
Dr Chithra, Chief Medical Officer presided over the event, wherein Rtn. S.A. Ganesan, President, Rtn. Dr. M.H. Muhammad Ilyas, Secretary, Rtn. Dr Savitri, Chair, Community Service – Medical, Rtn. N. Srinivasan, Co-chair, other club members and hospital staff were part of the event.
