GEM hospital inaugurates Robotic Cancer Surgery

On Saturday, GEM hospital introduced its new robotic cancer Surgery. Dr Mylswamy Annadurai inaugurated the event.

Surgery being the primary treatment for cancer and early cancer, with advancement in medical techniques, the cure is attained in limited time.

The newer technologies such as the ICG helps detection of cancer tissues and enables complete eradication, the 3D vision in Robotic surgery aids in detection of cancer during the surgery.
The instruments in the advanced techniques are capable of 360 rotation and the hand wristed instruments allow sharper dissection without trauma to other parts.

The advantages of the robotic surgery is that it reduces pain, fastens recovery and quickens mobility of the patient into routine activities.

In this regard, GEM hospital is the first hospital to provide Post Doctoral Fellowship, super speciality training course in minimal invasive cancer surgery. Additionally, it offers one year training program for eligible cancer surgeons having MCh oncology. It reported that actions to add MCh gastroenterology into the programs are undertaken. Other trainings include cancer surgery for stomach, oesophagus, liver, pancreas, colon rectum, kidney, uterus and ovary.

GEM hospital pioneers in setting up a global standard operation technique of Robotic Cancer oesophagus and pancreas. Eventually, it was internationally rewarded for its advanced surgical techniques. To be noted, CM M.K. Stalin released the book on ‘laparoscopic and robotic cancer surgery’ by Palanivelu, Chairman of GEM Hospital and Research Centre.
