45 Asian countries will participate in the upcoming 18th Asian Games that is set to be held in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia on Aug.18th. This is the first time two cities are hosting the Asian Games simultaneously. A total of 465 events in 40 sports will be conducted.The motto of this year’s Asian Games is “Energy of Asia”. Javelin throw star Neeraj Chopra ,who won the gold medal in Commonwealth Games 2018 will be India’s flag bearer in the opening ceremony of the 18th Asian Games. The announcement was made by Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President Narinder Batra on Friday. Apart from the usual sport events, this year due to the global interest in video-game tournaments, the Asian Games Federation has announced that for the first time, eSports will be conducted in Asian Games. This year eSports will be a demonstration event while in 2022, the event will be for medals. The 2018 Asian Games will conclude on September 2nd with the closing ceremony.
