‘NOYYAL AZHAIKKIRAL’ – dance drama performed at Satchidananda

Karuna sagari, classical dancer and director of Bhakti Natya Nikethan, Coimbatore with her team performed their Bharatanatyam production ‘Noyyal Azhaikkiral’  dance drama at Satchidananda Jothi Nikethan International School, Kallar, Mettupalayam to highlight the present plight of Noyyal river. The entire dance conceived, choreographed and danced by  Karuna sagari and her troupe brought to the audience the birth of this great river and how it is polluted today. Their first concert was performed for the 700 students of Satchidananda Jothi Nikethan with the blessings of Swami Satchidananda, founder of the school.


The programme that lasted for an hour brought the audience spellbound and in appreciating her efforts and to continue performing in other schools a sum of Two Lakhs was donated by K.Ramasamy, Chairman on behalf of Roots Group of Companies. Dr.Kavidasan, Secretary of the school in his address underlined the importance of the human civilization that revolved around the rivers.

Karuna sagari and her entire team under ‘Save Noyyal 1000’ focused on highlighting what the Noyyal faces  today and the urgent measures to be taken to save it from further degradation. Karuna sagari was very particular that she began the journey of bringing awareness  into the young minds especially school children. Her wish is that the next generation treats the little river Noyyal better than the present one.

The deputy secretary of the school M.Gnanapandithan, The Senior Principal V.Ganesan, Principal R.Umamaheswari, Teachers and Students were all in appreciation of the concert, the noble journey of saving Noyyal and educating the students about the dwindling of water resource. The message that ‘With water we live, without water we perish’ was highlighted through the nimble dance movements by the young artists.
