A disease which leads to Diabetes, Infertility, Hormonal problem, High blood pressure and so many other troubles to our body; yes the disease has been coined as Obesity for which Bariatric surgery is the only solution. The treatment has found a place in Tamilandu Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme and it’s the first of its kind in India and the Government of Tamilnadu.
GEM hospital performs maximum number of Bariatric surgeries’ in Tamilnadu curing patients with uncontrollable diabetes and obesity. The Government scheme has made the treatment; a very nominal affair. Under TNCMHIS, 5 patients get benefitted each month and so far the hospital has to its credit 50 successful Bariatric surgeries.
The cured patients were assembled at a beneficiary meeting on Friday. Dr. Praveen Raj, Head, Dept. of Diabetes and Obesity Surgeries Centre at GEM Hospital requested the Tamilnadu government to increase the approval cap of each month for the common man’s benefit.
