EMU will make life easier for City Residents

The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore addressed the press at Chamber Towers on Avinashi Road. The agenda of the meet was to put forward the infrastructure demands required in Coimbatore besides the GST.

The occasion was graced by Pon Radhakrishnan, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Finance & Shipping and P. Muralidhar Rao, National General Secretary, BJP. Also present were Vanitha Mohan, President, The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore, CP Radhakrishnan, EX-MP of BJP from Coimbatore, Vanathi Srinivasan, General Secretary, BJP.

P.Muralidhar Rao, National General Secretary, BJP in his address promised that he will take up the ambitious issues for sure and resolve it as soon as possible citing that Coimbatore is the leading manufacturing center in Tamilnadu after Chennai. Some of the talks touched were the Chennai-Salem Green Corridor, an evening train for Madurai from Mettupalayam via Coimbatore, expansion of departure gates at Coimbatore International airport, Direct flights between Coimbatore and Delhi and T3 connectivity twice a day from Coimbatore while making Coimbatore, a hub and spoke airport along with a few other demands.

Proposals for road expansion, air and rail connectivity along with GST were the topics spoken during the hour long meeting. The Vote of Thanks was presided over by Ravisam, Managing Director of Adwaith Lakshmi; thanking the Government for introducing the Uday Express between Coimbatore and Bangalore during the day time against the original demand of night trains. He reposed full faith by saying, the government has been kind enough in introducing a daytime train between Coimbatore and Bangalore and I am sure they will soon come up with night trains as well between the above cities.
