Elon Musk helps Ukraine, activates Starlink

As Ukraine’s Internet faced continued disruptions and blackouts since the Russian troops entered Ukraine, Vice Prime Minister of the country appealed to Space X Founder and the World’s Richest Man Elon Musk to help them on Saturday.

Musk has one of the most powerful satellite based internet service providing technology on the planet called Starlink, and Ukraine seeked this tech to keep their communications assured.

“While you try to colonize Mars — Russia try to occupy Ukraine! While your rockets successfully land from space — Russian rockets attack Ukrainian civil people! We ask you to provide Ukraine with Starlink stations,” wrote Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister Mykhalio Fedorov.

In 10 hours following the request, Elon Musk replied with the words “Starlink service is now active in Ukraine,” “more terminals en route.”

Starlink operates a constellation of more than 2,000 satellites that aim to provide internet access across the planet.

Elon Musk’s decision to provide Starlink services in Ukraine is being lauded by the internet.

Moneycontrol reported that Ukraine’s official Twitter handle and Fedorov later thanked Elon Musk and the country’s ambassador to USA Oksana Markarova for swift decisions that allowed us to activate the Starlink in Ukraine.
