The crowd puller Ooty rose show was inaugurated on Saturday by district Collector J. Innocent Divya at the Government Rose Garden. The first day saw close to 20,000 people visiting the show.
The Ooty Rose Show which entered its 16th year is one of the most awaited events during summer featuring a variety of flowers. One can see these upto one week.
The show stopper of 2018 was India Gate model which was made of thousands of roses with using different color buds. “India Gate replica has been made of about 30,000 cut roses by the Nilgiri district horticulture department,” joint director of horticulture Shiva Subramaniam Samraj told TOI. Besides, four other districts’s – Krishnagiri, Erode, Madurai and Tirunelveli – horticulture departments have contributed to the show, he said.
