KASC sweeps dust & darkness away!

The National Service Scheme (NSS) of Kongunadu Arts and Science College organized a Mega Swachh Bharat Work Camp for five days recently at V.C.V. Government Higher Secondary School, Vellakinar, Coimbatore.

Prof.Velmurugan, NSS Program officer of KASC welcomed the gathering and initiated the cleaning activities. The program was inaugurated by the Principal of the college M. Lekeshmanaswamy.

C.A. Vasuki, Secretary and Director of the college highlighted that the main purpose of this Mega camp was to create awareness among the students regarding cleanliness and its benefits. S.R. Madan Shankar, Dean, Academics, KASC offered felicitation.

100 NSS volunteers cleaned the college’s playground on the first day. The volunteers were then segregated into various groups who took-up charge to clean various places inside the school on the second day. Some volunteers dusted the classrooms and others collected the garbage scattered in the school’s playground, and they cleaned the entire school campus with proper health safety kit.

Other important aspects like Students’ awareness regarding importance of cleanliness and health and their attitude towards the cleaning process were discussed. The importance of personal hygiene was emphasized among school students. Prof.P. Chitra, NSS Program Officer and UBA Coordinator, delivered special address during the camp for girl children safety and the importance of nutritional food. Prof.L. Kathirvelkumaran, NSS Program Officer ensured the smooth flow of the events.

R. Annadurai, NSS-Program coordinator, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore took part in the valedictory session, and appreciated KASC for its contributions. A.R. Parimala, Headmistress of V.C.V. Government Higher Secondary School, Vellakinar thanked the NSS volunteers and the program officers for their hard work.

The Management of Kongunadu Arts and Science College sponsored 4 computers to the school. Vanam foundation contributed 50 saplings to the school through our camp. Saplings were planted by NSS Program coordinator, Principal, Headmistress, NSS POs and volunteers.
