PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research (PSG iTech) and Sandfits Foundries Pvt. Ltd. announced on Thursday their collaboration following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.
A press release said that the main objective of this MoU is to intensify that close co-operation between industry and institute which would benefit the student community to enhance their skills and knowledge.
L.Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee, PSG & Sons’ Charities for PSG iTech and R.Saravanan, Managing Director, Sandfits Foundries signed the MoU.
“The curriculum and the training methodology are customized to fulfil the industry needs. This MoU will also facilitate Industrial Training and Visits, Internships and Placement of Students, Guest Lectures, Research and Development activities related in the fields of Mechanical Engineering-Product Design, Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering,” the release said.
A Professional Development Course is being developed to train the industry personnel. This course will cater to the needs of Graduate Engineers and Diploma Engineers from rural backgrounds.
PSG iTech will be providing professional support in the selection, recruitment and training of this personnel and will be developing appropriate manpower with overall personality development to suit Sandfits and their client organizations.
This course will involve both theory and practical content, and it will be jointly taught by PSG and Sandfits resource persons with the duration of 2 years. A mutual joint-certification will be awarded on completion of the course, the college said.
