Help Covai get a Mega Textile Park – ICCIC appeals Chief Minister M.K.Stalin

Coimbatore region is known for its textile manufacturing, and if the State Government of Tamil Nadu could help Coimbatore get one Mega Textile Park that is sanctioned by Central Government, it would benefit the district, expressed the office bearers of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Coimbatore (ICCIC) to Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M.K.Stalin on Monday.

The President of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Coimbatore C.Balasubramanian and his team of office bearers met the Chief Minister at the Secretariat and submitted a Memorandum on the needs of Infrastructure, Ease of doing Business and Environment, which are required for the comfort living of Coimbatoreans.

Connectivity:

They thanked the State Government for releasing Rs.1,132 crore towards compensation to land owners for the expansion of airport, and requested the CM to release the balance compensation for acquisition of remaining lands.

Regarding road connectivity, they mentioned that expansion of Karanampatti – Karur Highway into a four-lane highway with flyover and expansion of Kovilpalayam to Bannari highway into a four-lane highway with bypass connectivity is important.

They underlined that 6 national highway roads pass through Coimbatore, and they are causing a lot of hardship. They also conveyed that it is important for a city like Coimbatore to have a ring road system. 

Education related:

As more number of students are getting placed in IT sector and showing interest towards this field, they highlighted that a formation of exclusive IT Park will ensure greater employment opportunities and it will also be an impetus for institutions to produce more IT professionals.

Stating that Coimbatore is home to 6 universities, they conveyed that if a university of excellence is established in Coimbatore, it would enlarge the scope of education for students.

Industry related: 

In the memorandum, they thanked the CM for taking up Coimbatore master plan and fixing a time limit of 18 months to complete it. They appealed the work be speeded up.  Implementation of proposals recommended by Chairman of Committee for revival of MSMEs Dr.Sundaradevan IAS (Retd) was requested.

Creation of Industrial Estate for pump sets, wet grinders, jewelry manufacturing and EV was requested.   They briefed the importance of single window clearance system for sanction of building approvals, and requested him to introduce that via a suitable software system.

Agriculture related:

Taking the welfare of farmers into consideration, The Chamber requested that the State Government should not permit the use of fertile agricultural land for any other purpose. It also appealed the CM to set up a Farmer Assist Committee to give exposure on latest crop/seed varieties giving high yield, help with crop planning methods in order to maximize gain, give exposure on water conservation and management, convey the benefits of developing, breeding native live stock in farms, and also share the benefits of cooperative marketing, cold storage and other common facilities.
