Teachers up skilling is the next major concern: CII Chairman

S.Narayanan, Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) Coimbatore Zone Chairman said here today (27.02.2018) that School Education by CII in 2017-18 is a large initiative. “We drafted a syllabus for school education representing Coimbatore in which 80% of our recommendations have been adopted by the state government in the recently updated draft school syllabus,” he said.

“Teaching the prescribed syllabus is the next major concern to be addressed. So, upskilling the teachers will pose the next challenge. Although the discussions are already on the table regarding it, it has to be given utmost importance,” he added.

“Like CBSE and ICSE syllabuses which have a manual for the teachers for each subject, CII has suggested to the government to have one such syllabus manual for teachers from which teachers can have a reference to the syllabus that the government is going to introduce,” said a spokesperson of CII.

While briefing the media about the Reflections of CII in the year 2017 – 18, Narayanan pointed out that CII has made various suggestions not only in education, but also in Air connectivity & Infrastructural problems of the City Airport, Army and Defense sector, Agro, Smart City initiative, GST Representation and Road Safety Awareness.

“Earlier, the state government had given a commitment that before 31st of Dec, 2017 the government will come with an action plan for the land acquisition of airport expansion and runaway, but we are yet to see any document on that,” said Narayanan.

However, a special officer has been designated to negotiate with the land owners in order to make some headway in the stalled proposal. But, though CII has been knocking at the doors of all the authorities concern, there has been no positive response, according to the distressed CII Chairman.

He said that this will seriously affect the air connectivity and, more than the passenger traffic, the cargo traffic.
