CDBA aims to elevate Covai’s love for basketball!

CDBA- Coimbatore District Basketball Association’s re-elected President G.Selvaraj announced that steps to encourage students in govt. and aided schools to play basketball will be taken in the days to come by giving them the needed help.

He said this during a press meet held at CDBA office on Friday where the newly elected office-bearers of the association for 2021-25 were introduced

The election results were announced recently and a press release conveyed that Selvaraj, the Joint Managing Director of CRI Pumps has been once again elected CDBA’s President.

C.N.Ashok, C.Anand, T.Palanisamy, Navarathna Kumar Bafna were elected Vice Presidents. S.Balaji  was elected Secretary and N.Ramalingam, Ramakrishnan, Deebala were elected Joint Secretaries, while S.Padmanaban was elected as Treasurer.

The president said that due to ‘Covid-19’ outbreak, no competitions were held in Tamil Nadu for the past two years. But in May 2022, CDBA has planned to conduct the 55th National Level basketball competitions for both Men and Women.

He shared that the association would request Tamil Nadu government to help build an International Level indoor basketball stadium in Coimbatore.

On behalf of CDBA, the President said that steps will be taken to encourage students in Government and government-aided schools across the district to play basketball by giving training. Needed help would also be provided to build basketball grounds, providing sports materials for students and steps to conduct special training camps in the school premises.

He also said that CDBA is ready to make a tie up with leading private hospitals in the district to provide health care facilities at subsidised rates to the present and former players, members and their families.

Also, medical insurance scheme would be introduced to basketball players and CDBA will take care of the financial burden.
