CODISSIA underlines MSMEs’ issues related to Labours

The Coimbatore District Small Scale Industries Association (CODISSIA) submitted before the Minister of Labour Welfare a list of issues the MSME sector and its labour had been facing during his visit to Coimbatore on Wednesday.

A press release from the association highlighted it had requested the govt. to extend the due date for submission of EPF challans and payment of contributions by another six months. Requests were made to take immediate cognizance regarding the operation of EPF portal without any hindrance since on many occasion, the site has not been functional.

It mentioned that an appropriate mechanism for skilling the existing potential workforce inside the state has to be urgently identified and implemented in a phased approach for self-reliance.

Accordingly, existing schemes have to be revisited and new schemes have to be planned.  The association conveyed that it will be glad to collaborate and work with the Government in this regard. CODISSIA also underlined that subsidies should be allowed for creating hostel/accommodation facilities for migrant workers in the respective industrial premises.

The association had also asked the govt to set up Skill Development Centres to help MSMEs to absorb sufficient manpower with required skills.

CODISSIA requested for certain changes to be made in Section 9A  and Section 33   of Labour Law, Factories Act, Minimum Wages Act, Payment of Wages Act, Contract Labour & Regulations Act.
