An online guest lecture on ‘Machine Learning & Algorithms’ was organized for the ECE Students of PSG iTech by the respective department on Wednesday. It was held in association with the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) Students’ Chapter.
Madhuri Gopal, an expert mentor in the field of Machine learning, Data Science and Natural language Processing (NLP) was the Chief Guest. She gave a detailed introduction to machine learning and explicated the three types of learning methods. She explained the three types of learning methods and elaborated on the different algorithms used in realizing the learning methods.
Also, she explained the mathematical theories behind the major algorithms and shared some experiential use cases for the same such as recommendation engine, medical diagnosis, speech recognition, NLP applications like text mining and statistical arbitrage. In addition, python snippets for some of the algorithms were also discussed.
Around 80 students and 20 faculty members across the circuit branches participated in the online lecture.
Earlier, G. Chandramohan, Principal, PSG iTech briefed about the importance of machine learning (ML) in the day-to-day affairs and the way ML has impacted and transformed the modern lifestyle.
