RANA facilitates Covai’s need for nurses in critical time

RANA, short for Racecourse and Neighbourhood Association, has been silently contributing support to Coimbatore, particularly the district’s healthcare personnel requirements during the second wave of this pandemic.

A press release from the association conveyed that a special team was formed by RANA to source the staff nurses to work for the sudden increase in the requirements, from all across Tamil Nadu. With the help of various nursing colleges in Coimbatore and the support of Coimbatore Corporation, Staff Nurses were identified and provided transportation from their location to Coimbatore.

Through the initiative of the team, 106 Staff Nurses are now supporting Coimbatore in its battle with covid-19. They are working at GH, ESI, Primary Health Centres, Covid care centres.

Members of RANA, Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore, Coimbatore Cancer Foundation and few other individuals have volunteered to bear the compensation/stipend for these 106 Staff Nurses for a period of 3 months at total cost of around INR 50 lakhs.

PSG Tech and TNAU have come forward to provide accommodation and food for the Nurses while the City Corporation is providing transportation facility.

RANA conveyed that when further need for nurses had risen, the matter was shared via social media, FM Radio etc., and in a short while, more than 400 applications from staff nurses have come, which is being looked up by the team to facilitate to fill the immediate requirements.

The association had earlier provided masks, gloves, PPE kits, Dead Body kits to the GH in Coimbatore.
