Cancer is same like fever and cold, if diagnosed earlier it is curable
By observing the world cancer day which is celebrated every year on February 4th, GEM Hospital in associating with Rotary International today (2.2.2018) organized the initiative ‘Cancer for Life’, a free treatment for cancer affected poor patients at free of cost.
While speaking at the occasion Dr.Praveen Raj, Head of Bariatric said that people still have a lot of misconception about cancer. ‘If Cancer if found earlier it is treatable, with the technological advancements that we have today, we can cure the disease easily,’ he said.
Dr. C.Palanivelu, Chairman, GEM Hospital noted that the current status for medical care for the treatment of GI Cancers cab be treated laparoscopically, he says. ‘Although we have all the advancements, people come to hospital only at the last stage of cancer, so it has made a disbelief that if affected with cancer they will die, it is not true, it is treatable,’ says Palanivelu.
Earlier, 100 of cancer survivors who were treated at GEM hospital participated. (Retd) Prof. Suryanarayanan, Government Arts College and Maruthi, Assistant Governor, Coimbatore Rotary District lauded the Hospital for its service to the society.
