CODISSIA shares industries’ needs and issues during lockdown with TN Govt.

“While essential and continuous process industries are allowed to run during the lockdown, other industries that are closed face trouble in paying rent, retaining workforce and most of repayment of loans.”

“If some financial assistance are provided via the Tamilnadu Industrial Investment Corporation Limited (TIIC) to the MSMEs who are facing these issues, it would help them survive”, said M.V.Ramesh Babu, President of CODISSIA during the Chief Minister’s interaction with the Industrial Associations in the State on Sunday, ahead of the 14-day lockdown in Tamil Nadu, that comes to effect from today (10.5.2021) till Monday (24.5.2021).

Ramesh Babu said that CODISSIA welcomes the State Government’s decision to go for a short lockdown to cut the spread of COVID-19. At the meeting, he requested the TN Government to exert pressure on Central Government to get moratorium extension, and also help the industries get an additional stimulus package from the Centre.

Mr.Babu said that representations have been made by CODISSIA and other associations, and if the State Government could take action in this matter, it would be of tremendous support. He shared that while the industries that are exempted from the lockdown are running, if a machine breaks down, or if some additional tools should be bought, there would not be any shops available for that because of the lockdown.

He requested the TN Government to consider allowing the hardware dealers/traders to run their shops atleast 3-4 hours per day, so that it could be of assistance to the industries. Mr.Babu requested the Govt. to reduce the MOD charges to Rs. 5000 from the current charge Rs.10,000, and underlined that people who run small industries are unable to bear the financial burden during the pandemic, and this MOD charge is adding additional burden. He also underlined the demand for oxygen the industries are facing, at the meeting. He requested the assistance of the State to get the industries the needed support.

Having said all these, he assured that the Industries in Coimbatore will cooperate with the State Government in its effort to control the pandemic.
A press note from the TN Govt. stated that the CM will look at the requests made by all Industrial associations in Tamil Nadu, and give his answers on Monday (10.5.2021)
