Section of public return without getting vaccine at Govt. Arts College

400 people received covid vaccines at the vaccination center arranged at Government Arts and Science College, Coimbatore on Friday. However a portion of the public waiting for the vaccines there did not get the shots as the large incoming of public outnumbered the available vaccines at the center.

This led to a brief argument between the staff at the vaccination center and the public.

Regarding this the administrative staff at the center said “we had with us 200 covaxin and 200 covishield vaccines today, and we had given it entirely to the public. Since people who had registered with the Govt’s portal and scheduled for vaccination today started to arrive here in large number, we couldn’t vaccinate all”.

“We informed the public that only limited supplies are available but since they were reluctant to go, the size of the crowd increased. People have registered with the government but at the same time they should know that supply is not based on registration”

“We know that gathering as a crowd is not a good thing for the public during this current time of pandemic. Hence we sought the help of the police to urge the public to move to their houses and come tomorrow”, the staff briefed.

The Vaccination team here has given tokens for those who couldn’t receive vaccine shots today. The public who didn’t receive vaccines returned home with disappointment.
