Seasoned Actors take home Oscars !

2020 saw the entertainment industry take a hard hit due to pandemic. Hollywood movies have always had a huge global fan base and market, especially in China and India but did not release most of its blockbusters scheduled for 2020.

While some of them like Wonder Woman 1984 and Tenet got released globally, they did not haul the box office collection they were supposed to make.

Despite the challenges, some Hollywood producers went ahead to screen their movies, either on Cinemas or via OTT last year. Of all the movies, actors, technicians nominated for the Oscars 2021 in their respective category, the winners were announced on April 26 (IST)

The 93rd Academy Award Ceremony took place at Union Station Los Angeles and the Dolby Theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Center. Nomadland, directed by Chloe Zaho won huge at the Oscars. It won the Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress awards.

Age is just a number ! :

Legendary actor Anthony Hopkins won the Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in The Father. He is 83 years old with 6 decades of career in Theater, TV and Movie industry.

Veteran actress Frances McDormand won the Actress in a leading role for her performance in Nomadland. She is 63 years old, and had already won the Best Actress Award in 2017 for her performance in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Rising star Daniel Kaluuya won the Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in Judas and the Black Messiah.

Yuh-Jung-Youn won the Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in Minari.  Nomadland took home the Best Picture Award and the film’s director Chloe Zhao won the Oscar for Directing.

Chloe Zhao is the second woman to win this award. In fact she is the first Asian woman to take home this honor.

Soul won the Oscar for Animated Feature Film, My Octopus Teacher won the Best Documentary – Feature, Colette won the Oscar for Documentary – Short Subject, Sound of Metal won the Oscar for Film Editing, Another Round won the Oscar for Best International Feature Film.

Tenet won the Oscar for Visual Effects and The Father won the Oscar for Writing – Adapted Screenplay, while Promising Young Woman won the Oscar for Writing – Original Screenplay.
