Students & faculty should become innovators! – Pratapsinh Kakasaheb Desai, President, ISTE at PSG iTech

President of Indian Society for Technical Education Pratapsinh Kakasaheb Desai stressed that research work done by students and members of faculty must be patentable and every patent must be commercialized for the greater benefit of the society.

He said this at PSG iTech’s Online Refresher-Induction Program (Phase III) on Integration of Pedagogical Strategies with ICT for Transformation of Engineering Education, in which he acted as the Chief Guest. Following the Presidential address by college Principal G.Chandramohan, Pratapsinh Kakasaheb Desai addressed the gathering.

He said that students and members of faculty are to be encouraged to do research and involve themselves in innovating new products, which can be made available in the market and be helpful to the society.

In his addresses, it was stated that students should be enabled not only to become problem identifiers but problem solvers. Also, teaching fraternity should also be trained periodically to upgrade their knowledge and motivate the students to learn the advanced technologies through online learning platforms.

It was mentioned that real engineers are the ones, who can think independently in a novel manner. In addition, he requested the members of faculty to practice pedagogical strategies for better teaching and learning. He concluded his speech with a quote “thoughts lead to actions, actions lead to good character and good character lead to develop our nation”.

This online program is organized by PSG iTech’s ECE Dept., and supported by AICTE-ISTE. It started on Thursday (Apr.22) and goes on till Wednesday (Apr.28). Asst.Professors Deepa, N.Susithra and A.K.Kowsalya Dev of the ECE Department are the coordinators for this one- week induction program.
