3rd edition of NHE Conclave by CII to be held

Utilizing the ideas given by the principals and staffs of leading educational institutions from Coimbatore, the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) is set to conduct the Third edition of National Education Conclave on Dec 1 – 2, 2017 at Hotel Le Meridien with the theme ‘Transforming Higher Education’.

India has almost 48,000 colleges and other educational institutions including universities. But, they rank poor in global standards. There is an urgent need to revamp the higher education system in the next 5 years by reorganizing and remodeling the aspects of the system by means of more funding, leadership and management, quality assurance, autonomy, accreditation, industry-institute interaction and pedagogy in the required dimensions, according to a press release.

Earlier, CII had presented a document on the recommendations to the National Education Policy with inputs from stakeholders to the Government, S. Malarvizhi, Conclave Co-chairperson said.

The goal of the new higher education system would be to promote innovation and entrepreneurship among students and establish the foundation for a knowledge-based economy rather than one with a destination for outsourcing services to other countries, Malarvizhi, added.

The conference will have senior bureaucrats, besides several thought leaders, addressing the delegates.

CII is also arranging the First edition of CII school education conference with the theme ‘School Leadership for the 21st Century’ on 2nd of Dec, 2017 at SITRA Auditorium.

The conference will focus on curriculum, pedagogy and teachers training, use of technology, technical and soft skills and counseling, Nandini, Chairperson, CII said.

As the Government of Tamil Nadu is revamping the school education syllabus to serve as an enabler for students to prepare for their career pursuits, a report on syllabus enhancement recommendations-2017 was submitted to State School Education Minister KS Sangottaiyan, added Nandini.
