PSG Hospitals to launch advanced Vestibular Rehabilitation Centre

PSG Super Speciality Hospital will inaugurate a state of the art ‘PSG Vestibular Rehabilitation Centre’ on Oct 29, 2020. This launch coincides with the World Stroke Day 2020.

This centre is the first in Tamil Nadu to have the Virtual Reality and Videonystagmography facilities for the comprehensive rehabilitation of patients with an ailment called Vertigo.

Vertigo is a condition where a person has the sensation of surrounding objects moving when they are not actually. Often it feels like a spinning or swaying movement. It may be associated with nausea, vomiting, sweating or difficulties in walking.

This ailment is often caused by an inner ear problems. There are many types of vertigo, some caused by dislodgment of tiny calcium particles inside the ears, buildup of fluid and changing pressure in the ear, infections or tear in the either of two membranes between the middle and inner ear.

Depending upon the type of the Vertigo, treatment modality such as Medication, Surgery, Canalith Repositioning Maneuvers and Vestibular Rehabilitation will be prescribed.
