Huge Research Grant for Skill Development Centre sanctioned for Dr.NGP IT

Dr.N.G.P Institute of Technology, Coimbatore has received a research grant in aid of Rs.12.65 Lakhs for the establishment of Skills and Personality Development Program Center (SPDC) from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi for the project of 3 academic years. The huge research grant was received by Dr.K.Porkumaran, Principal, Dr.N.G.P Institute of Technology and Dr.C.Ram Kumar, Department of BME, Dr.N.G.P Institute of Technology, Coimbatore.

The first programme to be organised by this Center will be Value based education towards Entrepreneurship Development. 

The broad objectives of the centre shall be to provide opportunity to SC/ST students in the Institutes to reorient themselves in the light of emerging employment opportunities in Engineering undergraduate/ Diploma students at all levels.

It is to empower the SC and ST students by providing special skill training apart from regular study. To enhance the skills of Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates with help of modules on communication, personality development and proficiency in English language.

It will boost the confidence of SC and ST students and provide them with better career opportunities so that their employability in the industry increases. People belonging to SC/ST classes will be the prime beneficiaries of this Center by acquiring talents and skill sets for becoming a successful entrepreneur in future. This Center also plans to organise programs on the theme of Value based education for personality and entrepreneurship development in the upcoming days which will assure an increase in emerging women entrepreneurs in the society, says the management of Dr.N.G.P Institute of Technology, Coimbatore.

The activities planned to conduct for the students are Orientation programmes to enhance proficiency in English language, improve communication skills, both written and verbal and focus on personality development, lectures by inviting eminent personalities and academics, at regular intervals to update the knowledge of the students, open houses/ personality development workshops / competitions among students, to test the degree of their learning.

To carry out these activities, the AICTE has approved the softwares like ENGLISH Language, Communication Skill, Soft Skills various agencies like Digital Teacher, K VAN Solutions, Smart Lab Systems.
