The Department of Business Administration was established at Kongunadu Arts and Science College in the year 1997. The department moulds the students to face global competences in the changing business environment. The department mainly focuses on enlightening the students by updating them with the knowledge of latest industrial and market developments.
The department enables the students to enhance their career opportunity by motivating them to participate in various inter-collegiate competitions. The department has organized many seminars and conferences. It has conducted a number of workshops and personality development programmes for the budding managers of today.
The department was instrumental in introducing job-oriented courses, certificate courses and innovative courses like BBA (Computer applications) and certificate courses. BBA (CA) Department was established in the year 2002 and it started functioning independently from 2004. Both the departments provided attention on personal counseling to the students who need special concentration in various thrust areas in business. The major objective of the department is to achieve 100% results and placements for the students.
The department has 3 faculty members onewith M.Phil, and other two with MBA degrees.
The department is headed by S.PunithaDevi M.Com., M.Phil., MBA., PGDCA., (Ph.D).
With over 11 years of experienceshe has produced 4 M.Phil, Scholars and 2 more arepursuing. She has published articles in 4 national levels and 2 International leveljournals.
She has organized an international conference and has attended 6 international conferences. She is a member in ISCA (Indian Science Congress Association) BOS (Board of Studies), Vivekananda Study Circle, Sports Committee, and sheis also thecoordinator of the consumer club.
Achievements
Students of the department have exhibited their talents in various inter collegiate competitions. They have actively participated in YRC, NSS, and NCC activities also.
• During the academic year 2016-17 Department of BBA- CA won the overall trophy for sports events.
• 2nd Year BBA-CA students won the 1st place in Treasure hunt at SNS Engineering College.
• 2nd year BBA-CA students won 2nd place in Best management team in Dr.SNS CAS
• 2nd Year BBA-CA students won 3rd place in “PrabanthaKridah” A leadership Skill Development programme held at PPG Business School.
• Students have presented their papers in the International conference on Advances in commerce and management organized by the Pioneer college of arts and science.
• NCC cadets Nandhinipriya.R of 1st year and Vithya.K of 2nd year BBA-CA students were selected for national level volley ball event conducted in New Delhi and won the 3rd place in the sport event conducted by Avinashilingam CAS
• Vithya.K of 2nd year BBA-CA student have won the 1st place in beach volleyball and received the CM trophy.
Marketing Bonanza
Department of BBA- CA organized the “Marketing Bonanza”. Students exhibited different types of stalls forfancy items, Ooty products, food, textile, mind games etc. Students got a chance to learn different marketing techniques and interpersonal skills.Theyalso learned the 7 P’s of marketing management such as Product, Price, Promotion, Place, Positioning, Packaging, and People.
The department is striving hard to impart quality education to students, who want to choose business and entrepreneurship as their career.
