Orientation Programme: The Launching Pad at Bharathiar University

(34th Orientation program to I-Year MBA Students of BSMED, Bharathiar University)

  Bharathiar School of Management and Entrepreneurship Development (BSMED), has brought in the 34th batch of students through TANCET 2017 examination. The orientation program is meant to orient the students towards the culture and practices of BSMED, and to give an overview about the MBA program in BSMED. The 34th Orientation program was conducted for three days (16thAugust2017 to 18thAugust2017).

The first day of the orientation program was held on 16th August 2017. Inauguration ceremony auspiciously started the first day of the orientation program. Professor Dr. Ajoy Mathew, BSMED welcomed the gathering followed by the Director of BSMED, Dr.K.Vivekanandan, delivered the presidential address. The inaugural address was given by the Honorable Vice chancellor of Bharathiar University, Professor Dr. A. Ganapathy, which made students so motivated and the Honorable Vice Chancellor suggested the new batch of students to utilize the facilities available at the BSMED to its fullest and wished everyone to become employable. The Inaugural ceremony was concluded by Professor Dr. Rupa Gunaseelan, BSMED, with vote of thanks.

The Director of BSMED, Dr. K. Vivekanandan, spoke about the Hard and soft sides of BSMED. The Director’s agenda was very clear, and it kindled the curiosity about business learning among the young MBA aspirants who were listening. Professor Dr. Rupa Gunaseelan, BSMED, conducted the “Ice Breaking Session”, which sparked the interaction between the fellow students, which made them to get to know each other in a very short span of time. The afternoon session of the first day of the Orientation program was preceded by Dr. S. Karthikeyan, Professor of Finance, Jansons School of Business. Dr. S. Karthikeyan made students realize how the financial education and practices are crucial for the young managers and entrepreneurs to have a successful career.Former Director of BSMED, Dr. R. Venkatapathy concluded the First day of the three day Orientation Program, by shedding his insight on how to see management in the Human Resource perspective. Dr. R.Venkatapathy’s humility combined with his sense of humor and ability to stimulate the students, made the session a enthralling one.

The second day of the 34th orientation program’s forenoon session was started by Mr. B. Shanmuga Sundaram, Director, Steps Knowledge Services(P). He, showed the students how to manage knowledge and the techniques to successfully enhance knowledge acquisition system. Retired Professor, BSMED, Dr. R. Shannmugam gave the students necessary basics of the Financial education and gave the practical examples needed to see the overall picture of Management in the Finance Perspective. The afternoon session had, Dr. P. Krishnamurthi, Corporate Trainer, Author of Insights From Everyday, giving amazing activities to know the potential of the brain, and tips to have a healthy mind for management aspirants.  P.V. Jyoti Ganesan, Deputy General Manager- Quality Excellence at ZF Wind Power, made the students realize how the theoretical knowledge on business impacted the success of the business professionals across India and around the world. The Second day of the Orientation program was concluded by Dr. N. Premanand, DJAME. Dr. N. Premanand, marketed the marketing field in such a marketable way, which attracted various marketing aspirants.

The Final day of the orientation program, started with the Faculty members of BSMED provoking the new BSMEDians to come in front of the gathering and mutually introducing their course mates. Then, the Alumni Interaction gave the students a strong sense of support and increased the equity of BSMED, among the 34th Batchstudents to a greater extent. The post Lunch session was the crown jewel of the orientation program preceded by Retired Professor of BSMED, Dr. K. Ramakrishnan who spoke with sheer delight and enthusiasm on the topic of how management can be seen in the marketing perspective. Career guidance was also given to the students. To conclude the orientation program, Professor Dr. Rupa Gunaseelan, BSMED, gave the valedictory address.In the valedictory session, welcome address was given by Dr. Krishnaraj, Associate Professor, BSMED, and Dr. Uma Devi, Assistant Professor, BSMED, proposed the vote of thanks.
