AIKYAM 2017 at Dr. N.G.P. Institute of Technology

Dr. N.G.P. Institute of Technology celebrated its AIKYAM 2017 – INDUSTUDENT CONFLUENCE on “NURTURING GRADUATES ON INDUSTRY READINESS & EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS FOR THE FUTURE”.

The program commended with the welcome address by Dr. K. Porkumaran, Principal, Dr. N.G.P. IT. Dr. Nalla G. Palaniswami, Chairman and Managing Director, KMCH delivered the presidential address. Dr. Thavamani D Palaniswami, Secretary and Dr. O.T. Bhuvaneswaran, Chief Executive Officer, KMCRET felicitated the gathering.

A.K. Pattabiraman, Head – Accreditation Process for South India, Tata Consultancy Services Limited, Chennai.

He addressed the gathering with his dynamic speech on THE MOTIVE OF AIKYAM-2017. He stated that the main objective is to fill the tech academia gap and to develop good, competent scholars who create innovations for the welfare of mankind. He added that the collaboration of ‘what industry expects’ and what should educational institutes do’ is the concept of AIKYAM He insisted students to have a vision, mission, values and goals. He added that industry does not expect students to be experts, they expect them to learn, upgrade themselves. He discussed the four components of education and insisted continual learning among students. “Accept pain, it will be temporary, but gives permanent satisfaction at workplace”. He asked the students to improvise themselves in IQ, problem solving, communication, teamwork and also at results.

He spoke on ‘UNRAVELLING THE SUCCESS MANTRA IN HIGHLY COMPETITIVE JOB MARKET’. He insisted that ‘getting a degree is not enough, Industry exposure is must’. He listed the other skills needed, namely interpersonal, communication, presentation, critical thinking, problem solving capacity, leadership, networking and explained them in detail. He explained how is GE working towards reducing this essential skill gap, Academic collaboration- Transforming the next generation professionals.

He motivated the students to read regularly to know the basics in depth, to experiment new, faster and innovative methods to find solutions to existing problems, to build relations by networking with alumni.
