150 varieties of Thamboolams to be featured in Exhibition

Thamboolam has been a part of South Indian tradition since time immemorial. Betel leaves, flowers, Areca nut, fruits and coconut are always presented on a Thamboolam plate during auspicious occasions, festivals, celebrations or poojas and offered to deities during religious ceremonies.

The event ‘Thamboolam’ by the Crafts Council of Tamil Nadu is an effort to collect, document and exhibit very old Thamboolam platters made from a wide range of materials including silver, brass, wood and stone.

The collections will be exhibited at Koodam Hall, opposite Carmel Garden School, Pulikulam on Feb 10th & 11th Feb 2020.  The Exhibition will also have on display handcrafted plates / trays from all states of India. There will be more than 150 handcrafted exhibits on display at this event. The entry is free for all.
