The liver of 21 year old brain-dead youth from Madurai was airlifted and brought to Coimbatore via helicopter in just 20 mins today (16.1.2020) to transplant it to a patient in need of the organ at KMCH.
Dr.Pari Vijayaraghavan, Liver Transplant Surgeon, KMCH went to Madurai along with the team, did the surgery on the brain dead person and obtained the liver and brought it to Coimbatore.
The helicopter landed at Vattamalampalayam, Coimbatore. The team and the organ were received by Arun N.Palaniswami, Executive Director,KMCH. From there, the Police belonging to stations – Thudiyalur, Kovilpalayam, Saravanampatti and Peelamedu helped the KMCH Ambulance to reach KMCH in just 30 mins without any delay due to traffic.
