Poet Abhi received the Vishnupuram Literary Award 2019

 

The Vishnupuram award for the year 2019 was conferred on the Tamil poet , Abhi .The award was presented  on December  28 th at a function  at Coimbatore. Vishnupuram award has been constituted to recognize the contribution of the senior Tamil Writers and Poets from the year 2010 onwards. Vishnupuram literary association is  based in Coimbatore. This award carries a citation and a cash prize of one lakh.

The special guests, Jahnavi Barua, an English writer from Assam, Malayalam poet K G Sankarapillai, Tamil authors Jayamohan,Ravi Subramaniam, Perundevi , Shwetha Shanmugam participated and held discussions at the awards functions.The award was presented by K G Sankarapillai and Janavi Barua along with the others to Poet Abhi.

Malayalam writer K G Sankarapillai delivering the felicitation address said that Abhi was a very calm person. The calmness can be felt in his poetry. Poems are written only if the poet remains calm. Abhi’s  poems are written in a language that is unique, which can only be felt and that carries a strong message. He voices out his dissent against the present human culture. His poems are very relevant to the present world. He also interacts with the future generation through his poems. His poems are always international standards .

A documentary by K B Vinodh on the poet Abhi “Anthara Nadai” was screened. A book based on the comments by several poets was also released during the function.
