Amrita conducts 2nd National Science Olympiad

More than 460 students from 53 schools from across India participated in the 2-day second edition of Amrita National Science Olympiad (NSO 2019) held at Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore recently

The theme for this year is Sustainable Development for a Self – Sustaining Future. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Korath Mathew, IT consultant for the Govt of India.

He said that he was amazed by the level of thinking and application of technology by the students. Br. Anand Shenoi, Convenor – NSO 2019 remarked that originality, innovation and involvement of the students were behind the success of the event.

A total of 87 teams participated in the final event to create sustainable and innovative solutions for topics such as smart farming, smart health, robotics, smart pollution management, multi-modal transport system, smart water management and renewable energy.

They were categorized into two groups with students of 7th, 8th and 9th standards and category 1 and students of 10th, 11thand 12th as Category 2. They were encouraged to use technology and innovation and the 29 students who emerged winners were awarded with certificates, trophies and cash awards.
