Tai Chi workshop for Arthritis & Fall Prevention at NG

Nitya Gurukula – NG , a People Work institute in Coimbatore conducted , for the first time in the city, a Tai Chi workshop for Arthritis and Fall Prevention (Levels 1&2) as designed by Tai Chi for Health Institute (TCHI), Australia. It was offered to Tai chi enthusiasts.

Master Trainer Dr. Kirthi S Walgama of Sri Lanka (certified by TCHI in Tai Chi for Arthritis, Diabetes and Energy respectively) conducted a 5-day workshop between 21 and 25 September 2019.

Potential instructors underwent preparatory sessions for three weeks at Nitya Gurukula with the supervision of their CEO and certified TCHI Instructor, Sashi Chandran. The instructors participated in Dr. Kirthi’s training sessions between 21-23 September.  After an evaluation and assessment, 15 participants were accredited to be qualified instructors who would receive their certification as Instructors in Tai Chi for Arthritis – Levels 1 & 2 and Fall Prevention in the concluding ceremony of the workshop.

On 24th and 25th September consultation and personalised Tai Chi practices were offered to a group of interested participants. The 15 participants varied in age and profession and came with medical conditions ranging from acute pains, diabetes, arthritis to Parkinson’s.
