When you serve society, you become a Leader – V. Ponraj

Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science held the inauguration of its 32 Clubs on 19.9.2019.

V.Ponraj, Former Advisor to Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, Former Scientist-G, Aeronautical Development Agency, Ministry of Defence, Banglore was the Chief Guest.

The Representatives of the clubs were bestowed with the governing charges their respective clubs by the Chief Guest.

Talking about what is the point behind so many clubs (Consumer Awareness Club, Uyir Club, Yuva Club, Philatelic Club, Talk Master, Business Club, Manavar Manram and much more), Dr. V. Deena, Vice Principal of the college said the students could learn many things beyond their curriculum – Crafting one’s Personality, learning about Leadership, Enhancing Communication, Taking Responsibility, making decisions, learning things with an open mind, spreading awareness to society could all have its genesis in the Clubs through its activities.

Solidifying Dr. Deena’s words, Dr. K. Karunakaran, Principal of the college said SRCAS has clearly understood that classroom activities alone wouldn’t make a generation get wholesome education. The institution is focused on realising Dr. Kalam’s expectation on youth and see them become a Skill Enriched Society, he said.

The Chief Guest in his address said colleges shouldn’t focus only on making graduates get academic excellence but instill in them various skills and turn them versatile individuals.

Touching on why a student should actively participate in club activities, he said student-hood and collegiate times are the period where students have the chance to merge themselves in socially connected clubs, through which they can develop the habit of serving the society.

He emphasised that when a student starts thinking about society at a young age, he starts to be a leader. He requested the students to acquire knowledge and share it with others.
