Will recommend ban on Rat Poison – TN Health Minister

Illupur town in Pudhukottai district saw a new Dialysis ward in the Illupur Government Hospital getting inaugurated by Dr.Vijaya Baskar, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Govt of Tamil Nadu on 19.8.2019.

The minister also gave hearing aid devices to hundreds of people. Post the inauguration, while addressing the press, he said that the number of people to use the dialysis facility in the Government Hospitals in the district has seen an increase from 2% to 19% because of the government’s measures taken in providing dialysis machines to many hospitals in the district. Since there is no shortage of water in the Government Hospitals, there would not be any hiccups in conducting dialysis tests, he added.

He also conveyed that suicide by consuming Rat Poison/Killing Paste is seen high and it is very difficult to save those who consume it because of the heavy poison content. The decision to ban rat poison involves many Departments. However, the Ministry of Health would recommend the Tamil Nadu Govt to ban rat poison.
