What happens in future depends on circumstances

Recently Twitter has become the platform for politicians to provide new announcements, perspectives and sensational moments. On 16.8.2019, at approximately 1: 46 p.m.,  Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister of India  posted a tweet that rose the eyebrows of many.

This day was the first anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, one of India’s greatest politician and administrator. Rajnath Singh paid his respects to Vajpayee and said that the nation owes him for his direction in making India equipped with Nuclear power.  Rajnath mentioned that Vajpayee was firm with the principle of ‘No First Use’ (Should not be the party to first attack with Nuclear Weapon).

In his tweet he said , ” Pokhran is the area which witnessed Atal Ji’s firm resolve to make India a nuclear power and yet remain firmly committed to the doctrine of ‘No First Use’. India has strictly adhered to this doctrine. What happens in future depends on the circumstances.

The last few words ‘ What happens in future depends on the circumstances’ has created a sense of confusion and opened up for questioning of what he means. This has come at a time when there is some uneasiness in the nation and its tension with Pak.
