Ladies Circle India & Sankara Eye Foundation  launch ‘Drishyam’

Ladies Circle India has launched the project titled ‘Drishyam’ – a charity driven eye care program for the needy. Drishyam is taken up along with Sankara Eye Foundation to help spread the awareness of eye donation and eye surgeries, curative procedures preventive measures. Sindhi Forum is contributing its support to this project to further support its impact on society.

Padma Shri Awardee Dr.R.V.Ramani, Founder & Managing Trustee, Sanakara Eye Foundation and Nidhi Gupta, President, Ladies Circle India jointly launched the project. Deepak Mainani, President, Sindhi Forum, Coimbatore gave a cheque worth Rs. 40,000 to support the project. A MoU was signed between Sankara Eye Foudnation and Ladies Circle India.

Nidhi Gupta shared to the gathering that as a child she would volunteer on Saturdays to assist the children at The Kamla Mehta School For The Blind. She said a high percentage of children remain blind due to lack of eye care and seeing that at an early age has impacted her and this project is close to her heart.

After the launch, Dr.RVR applauded the initiative taken up Ladies Circle and Sindhi Forum. Addressing the gathering, he said all humans have the innate urge to help his fellow human being but when two or three willing hearts collaborate, the result would be phenomenal. He assured that Sankara Eye Foundation will support Drishyam  and made an open invitation to everyone in attendance to be ambassadors of Good-will and Vision. He said celebrating life by throwing parties and giving gifts is fine but gifting eye sight to the needy would be the greatest gift we could give to the needy.

Talking to The Covai Mail, Nidhi Gupta said “Activities like Eye health & screening camps, cataract surgeries, corrective surgeries and rehabilitation measures in blind schools. We are committed to bust the myths that are preventing people from donating eyes.”

Srini Bharath, National Project Convenor for President Theme Project said “Sankara Eye Foundation has come forward to join hands with Ladies Circle India and help us take the cause of Drishyam forward. With Sanakara Eye Foundation’s assistance, Drishyam will delivering the services in eye care in 7 states across India . LCI has plans to reach out to the rural population, where quality eye care remains unaffordable”
