“Current Update On Endometrial Disorders” medical education program at KMCH

Current Update On Endometrial Disorders Heavy menses is a common problem faced by women and seen by Gynaecologists in their clinics. The cause for heavy menses can range from hormonal disturbances, commonly seen but benign, to something really serious like uterine cancer.

Uterine cancers although not as common as cervical or breast cancers, are slowly on the rise in Indian women. It is imperative that Gynaecologists update themselves on the latest in these specialised areas of care. In order for Gynaecologists to learn and interact about the management options for women with uterine lining (endometrial) disorders, Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital had organised a continuing medical education program on the 25th of July 2017.

The program was held at the KMCH auditorium, which played host to International faculty from UK, Prof. Janesh Kumar Gupta alongside national and local faculties. The team outlined investigative and treatment options for common endometrial problems through lectures and panel discussions. The programme was attended by 125 Delegates which included HODs from various Gynecology departments in and around Coimbatore, practising Gynaecologists as well as post graduate students.

“The take home message from the program was that clinicians need to have a high index of suspicion in women with abnormal bleeding patterns to detect and treat precancerous conditions leading to endometrial cancers. Current management options for cancers in the uterus are well outlined and they need to be offered to appropriate patients by oncologists who deal with these kind of patients” said Dr. Anbukkani Subbian, the organising secretary and Gynaecologic oncologist, at KMCH.

Dr. Nalla .G. Palaniswami, Chairman, KMCH who inaugurated the program, reiterated that KMCH was at the forefront of not just offering the latest treatment options, but also a front runner at hosting events that aid and encourage clinicians to learn, interact and update recent advancement. It has always been proud to provide a forum to aid active knowledge exchange between likeminded people as well to create awareness among the general public towards endometrial disorders.
